Do you have a cinnamon roll that disappears the moment it comes out of the oven? A family cookie recipe everyone requests? Maybe you make a pie, loaf of bread or jar of jam that deserves a little recognition.
Now is your chance to put that favorite homemade recipe to the test during the Blue Ribbon Contest at the Jessup Farm Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 19.
Hosted by The Farmhouse at Jessup Farm, the contest invites bakers and makers of all experience levels to share something delicious for a chance to earn a ribbon, bragging rights and recognition as one of this year’s Harvest Festival winners.
Choose Your Contest Category
Contestants may enter as many categories as they wish, with a limit of one entry per person in each category.
Categories include:
Best Cinnamon Roll
Best Cookie, Adult Division
Best Cookie, Junior Division for children under age 12
Best Jam or Jelly
Best Pie
Best Bread or Loaf
All entries must be homemade. Whether your recipe has been passed down through generations or is a new creation of your own, this is an opportunity to share it with the community.
How to Enter
Advance registration is required. Register here by 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 17.
Each entry must include:
Contestant’s name, phone number and email address
Name of the recipe
Complete ingredient list
Identification of common allergens
Please bring all entries ready for judging. If your entry requires refrigeration, let the contest organizers know ahead of time.
Entry Quantities
To give the judges enough to sample, please bring the following quantity for each entry:
Cinnamon Rolls: Six
Cookies: Six
Jam or Jelly: One standard-size jar
Pie: One whole pie
Bread or Loaf: One whole loaf
Cream pies will not be accepted. All plates, pans, jars and other containers must be taken home following the contest.
Contest Schedule
Entries should be dropped off at The Farmhouse at Jessup Farm beginning at 10 a.m.
Judging begins at 11 a.m., and winners will be announced at 1 p.m. during the Jessup Farm Harvest Festival.
Entries will be judged on four criteria:
Taste
Texture
Appearance
Originality
The judges’ decisions will be final.
Ribbons, Bragging Rights and Community Recognition
Winners in each category will receive a ribbon, well-earned bragging rights, and recognition as a Jessup Farm Harvest Festival contest winner.
Contest winners and event highlights will also be featured in a follow-up press release, shared through Jessup Farm’s social media channels and posted on the website.

Contest entries are prepared in home kitchens and may contain or come into contact with common allergens, including milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts and tree nuts.
Contestants are responsible for providing a complete and accurate ingredient and allergen list with every entry. Festival guests and participants with food allergies should use their own judgment and exercise appropriate caution.
